The History Of Nellie

Victoria, B.C. January 14, 1997

Yesterday an unbelievable sight was seen on the Victoria coastline. A large odd shaped object came out of the early morning sea mist towards the inner harbour, and put people in shock and dismay. It was a large sea serpent with a mermaid riding on its back. At first people ran frantically in all directions fearful for their lives. But when they saw that two courageous people went to meet the serpent and the mermaid they were not so afraid, but still were a little apprehensive. Two local restaurateurs who befriended the mermaid now known "Nautical Nellie" gave her and her trusted sea dragon refuge at their home. Apparently Nellie is a fun loving enticing beauty with bedazzling charms by all who see her. It is reported that she had been travelling the seven seas for much of her life looking for a place to call home and now feels she has found it, here in Victoria.

The two restaurateurs have subsequently named their new restaurant after Nellie. They have designed their theme around Nellies nautical adventure lore and have decorated the restaurant with the many treasures Nellie has helped them to collect. Nellie has also given the two restaurateurs many special secrets for their menu recipes from her many travels of the seacoasts of the world. In return the two restaurateurs have become loyal friends of Nellies and have showed her the many ways of the lands people. Sometimes on moon lit nights Nellies takes her loyal serpent "Thor" to frolic in Cadboro Bay with the other sea serpents and if your lucky and watch carefully you might catch a glimpse of them playing in the moon light. Nautical Nellies.......the legend begins.
